Famille Perrin Réserve Côtes du Rhône Rouge - 2014

Classic Côtes du Rhône. Fruity and fleshy with beautiful tannins, it’s a great everyday wine made almost exclusively from our Grand Prébois vineyards (for the Grenache) and our Vinsobres vineyards (for the Syrah). A beautiful wine you should always have!

Presentation

Presentation
"Côtes du Rhône par Excellence". Fruity and fleshy with beautiful tannins, its a great everyday wine.
The vintage
The 2014 vintage is unexpected for the region. A mild and wet winter, a hot and dry spring and temperate and humid summer characterizes this vintage. An atypical year, a winemaker’s vintage. Bud-break took place very early and flowering was carried out in ideal conditions and fruit set was excellent, especially on Grenache. However, work in the vineyards and constant monitoring were necessary all the way through to harvest. The months of July and August were humid favouring growth.
Location
This wine is a blend of Grenache (mainly from our Prébois vineyard in Orange), Syrah from further north (from our vineyard in Vinsobres) and Mourvèdre.
Terroir
The vineyard of Prébois has clayey limestone soils covered with stones. In Vinsobres the terraces are rich in quartz and marl limestone
Ageing
After the harvest is sorted and destemmed, vinification takes place in stainless steel and oak. Ageing occurs in tanks and Foudre 25% of the year.
Varietals
Grenache
Mourvèdre
Syrah

Tasting
The Reserve in 2014 shows lots of fruit, good freshness and character. The Grenache / Syrah duo blends perfectly. Pretty aromas of red and black fruit, good aromatic intensity, the mouth is fresh and generous. The silky tannins accompany a long aromatic finish.

"The 2014 Côtes du Rhône Réserve is a rock solid, peppery, Provençal
effort that did well in the vintage... elegant and floral...

"I found the Cotes du Rhone Reserve to have lots of complex flavors, and to be an excellent companion to grilled chicken marinated with lemon and tarragon."

"A solid pick here is the Famille Perrin Côtes du Rhône Rouge ($15.99). It amazes me that more people don’t drink these food-friendly, inexpensive Rhone blends. The Perrin simply over-delivers for the price." [+]
