Famille Perrin Côtes du Rhône Villages Rouge - 2015

Originating from different terroirs in Côtes du Rhône Villages, this wine is one of the most faithful illustrations of the Southern Rhône Valley.

Presentation

Presentation
The best terroirs of the Côtes du Rhône were identified historically and only 20% can be labelled "Villages". Normally found on geological faults, they also benefit from a geological complexity that produces grapes of superior quality.
The vintage
2015 was a magnificent year in the south as well, characterized by excellent sanitary conditions thanks to the mild, wet winter, followed by a relatively hot, dry spring. The vines coped well with the extreme heat and lack of rain in the summer thanks to good hydric reserves. Following satisfactory flowering, rapid and regular ripening was assisted by rain that fell in August, producing berries rich in phenolic compounds and anthocyanins. As in the north, harvesting took place under excellent conditions.
Location
Just 20% of the Côtes-du-Rhône vineyard is entitled to add the word ‘Villages’ after the words ‘Côtes-du-Rhône’. These are the best vineyard sites.
Terroir
Clay and limestone soils and gravelly soils.
Ageing
The harvest is sorted and destemmed. Vinification then takes place in stainless steel and oak. Ageing in tanks and Foudre (25%) for a year.
Varietals

Mourvèdre
Syrah

Serving
Serve at 18°C.
Tasting
The mouth is harmonious: a dense and creamy structure, firm but very fine tannins, ripe fruit enhanced with peppery notes and an impressive length. A vintage that expresses beautifully the 2015 vintage.
