Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2016

The vintage
The 2016 vintage in the Southern Rhone valley is exceptional, both in terms of quality and quantity, thanks to idyllic weather conditions that protected the region from climatic accidents throughout the whole year.
The production of white wine at Beaucastel is limited as we only have 7 hectares of white vines planted. The main variety is Roussanne, representing 80% of the blend.

Pretty pale yellow colour, this Beaucastel white 2016 is delicate with intense notes of white flowers and honeysuckle and a slightly saline attack that gives the wine a nice balance. A very harmonious vintage with a long finish.

Reviews and Awards

"Just sensational, and one of the best examples of this cuvée out there, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc boasts phenomenal notes of orange blossom, salty minerality, caramelized peach, and spice. Rich, full-bodied, unctuous and yet always pure and elegant, it’s one of the finest white coming from this hallowed appellation."
"Rich and fulsome aromatics, with oak supporting rather than subsuming, adding a lick of spice to the fresh pear scents. Full-bodied, but only just for a white Châteauneuf. Lovely freshness, keen and mineral. Really well done this year, showing no signs of heaviness."
