Famille Perrin Côtes du Rhône Villages Rouge

Originating from different terroirs in Côtes du Rhône Villages, this wine is one of the most faithful illustrations of the Southern Rhône Valley

Presentation

Presentation
This wine is produced by the Perrin family, using the same viticultural and wine-making techniques used at Château de Beaucastel
The vintage
In 2010, all the right conditions were united to produce an exceptional vintage.
Heavy rainfall during spring, followed by a very hot summer and an Indian summer in September allowed for great harvest conditions.
This vintage produced very balanced wines with intense notes of fruit and great finesse.
Location
Just 20% of the Côtes-du-Rhône vineyard is entitled to add the word ‘Villages’ after the words ‘Côtes-du-Rhône’. These are the best vineyard sites.
Terroir
Stony terraces over clay and limestone and gravel.
Ageing
The harvest is sorted and destemmed. Vinification then takes place in stainless steel and oak. Ageing in tanks and Foudre (25%) for a year.
Varietals
Grenache
Syrah

Reviews

88/100
"Potentially outstanding, the 2010 Cotes du Rhône-Villages comes primarily from Grand Prebois as well as other vineyards in St.-Gervais, especially the Syrah component. A blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, it exhibits a dense ruby/purple hue along with deep blackberry and black cherry fruit intertwined with notions of licorice, garrigue and underbrush. Medium to full-bodied with good acidity, freshness and precision."

"Lively crimson. Very healthy colour. Strangely, smells the most open and friendly. Juicy and presumably it’s the high-altitude Vinsobres Syrah that leavens it a bit. Actually quite forward."

"A soft and friendly style, this red offers flavors of cherry compote and melted red licorice that show a dash of sweet toast to frame the finish."

"The Villages bottling is a bit more complex and finer in flavor. It is full bodied and well balanced; a wine with spicy, fruity character and a long finish, tasting of red currant, plum, cherry, herbs, and violet. Exceptional value."
