Famille Perrin Sélection Parcellaire Gigondas Vieilles Vignes

This wine gets its exceptional aromas from vines spanning less than 1 hectare, with nearly 100 years in age.

Presentation

Presentation
A small plot of less than 1 hectare of pre-Phyloxera vines (around 100 years old). The yields are very small and the production is limited to 1500 bottles a year.
The vintage
In 2010, all the right conditions were united to produce an exceptional vintage.
Heavy rainfall during spring, followed by a very hot summer and an Indian summer in September allowed for great harvest conditions.
This vintage produced very balanced wines with intense notes of fruit and great finesse.
Location
Located at the South-Western end of the Appellation, at the heart of the historical village of Gigondas.

Reviews

91/100
"Glass-staining ruby. Aromas of fresh red berries, rose and lavender, with an exotic touch of Asian spices emerging with air. Juicy and precise, offering sweet raspberry and cherry flavors and slow-mounting anise and white pepper notes. The bright finish features very good clarity and lingering sweetness. "

"It is dense, full-bodied, textured and impressive, but it has to take a backseat to the 2010 Gigondas Vieilles Vignes, which has an opaque purple color and a stunning nose of blackberry, black raspberry, asphalt, spring flowers and wet rocks. The minerality jumps from the glass in this full-bodied, powerfully built and beautifully pure Gigondas. "

"This has plenty of muscle and heft, with chunky black currant, fig paste and bitter plum notes at the core, wrapped with singed mesquite, espresso and ganache details. Despite the beefy feel, this delivers bright acidity and fine definition throughout, showing the pleasantly tannic spine of the vintage."
