Famille Perrin Réserve Côtes du Rhône Rouge - 2015

Classic Côtes du Rhône. Fruity and fleshy with beautiful tannins, it’s a great everyday wine made almost exclusively from our Grand Prébois vineyards (for the Grenache) and our Vinsobres vineyards (for the Syrah). A beautiful wine you should always have!

Presentation

Presentation
"Côtes du Rhône par Excellence". Fruity and fleshy with beautiful tannins, its a great everyday wine.
The vintage
2015 was a magnificent year in the south as well, characterized by excellent sanitary conditions thanks to the mild, wet winter, followed by a relatively hot, dry spring. The vines coped well with the extreme heat and lack of rain in the summer thanks to good hydric reserves. Following satisfactory flowering, rapid and regular ripening was assisted by rain that fell in August, producing berries rich in phenolic compounds and anthocyanins. As in the north, harvesting took place under excellent conditions.
Location
This wine is a blend of Grenache (mainly from our Prébois vineyard in Orange), Syrah from further north (from our vineyard in Vinsobres) and Mourvèdre.
Terroir
The vineyard of Prébois has clayey limestone soils covered with stones. In Vinsobres the terraces are rich in quartz and marl limestone.
Ageing
After the harvest is sorted and destemmed, vinification takes place in stainless steel and oak. Ageing occurs in tanks and Foudre 25% of the year.
Varietals
Grenache
Mourvèdre
Syrah

Tasting
The Reserve in 2015 shows lots of fruit, good freshness and character. The Grenache/Syrah duo blends perfectly. Pretty aromas of red and black fruit, good aromatic intensity, the mouth is fresh and generous. The silky tannins accompany a long aromatic finish.

Reviews

****
"Excellent: fruity, full bodied, and well balanced; a wine with spicy-fruity aromas/flavors (plum, pepper, red currant), and a long, lightly tannic finish. Very fine value."
88/100
"A solid, affordable red from a big name in the Rhône Valley. Classic regional characters in a balanced, mid-weight frame. Soft cherry-strawberry centre along with hints of leather, Provencal herbs and spice. "

"Dark ruby. Ripe blackberry and cherry scents, along with suggestions of allspice, white pepper and succulent herbs. Sappy and broad on the palate, offering bitter cherry and boysenberry flavors that firm up slowly with air. Clings with strong tenacity on the finish, which features building tannins and a strong echo of sweet blue fruit."
