Famille Perrin Rasteau "L'Andéol"

Rasteau benefits from the peculiar Southern Rhône climate. For the most part the Grenache is facing south and protected from the mistral, enabling it to mature particularly well. The wine develops aromas of figs, dark chocolate and a texture typical of the appellation.

Presentation

Presentation
Our Rasteau L'Andéol is a delightful wine that will pair well with traditional hearty cuisine. You can age it for 6-7 years.
The vintage
In 2010, all the right conditions were united to produce an exceptional vintage.
Heavy rainfall during spring, followed by a very hot summer and an Indian summer in September allowed for great harvest conditions.
This vintage produced very balanced wines with intense notes of fruit and great finesse.
Location
A 2 hectare vineyard that we farm with south facing terraces, protected from the Mistral.

Terroir
Old terraces of gravel on sand and Pliocene clay.
Ageing
Early maturing due to the location of the vines in a basin protected from the wind. Vinification after flash-heating the harvest just like at Beaucastel. Long fermentation without punching down.
90% in stainless steel, 10% in Foudres. Ageing for 6 months before bottling.
Varietals
Grenache

"Tank sample. Very rich and opulent nose. Great polish and just the merest suggestion of raisins. Big, dry and hot on the finish. Expressive of the terrain! Good for those who seek sunshine in a bottle."

"From a hotter micro-climate, the 2010 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Rasteau l’Andeol is nearly 100% Grenache. It shows the massive, beefy side of Grenache along with rustic tannins, lots of chocolate and roasted beef notes, and a dense, full-bodied, seriously endowed personality."

"A warm ganache aroma gives way to a mouthcoating core of linzer torte, steeped blackberry and anise, all carried by smoldering black tea and graphite on the long finish, where this stays very fresh and racy, despite its weight."

"Classic peppery, grounded air, with a cautious layer of black fruit. Wholesome, ripe fruit trail, lots of flavor. Very typical Rasteau vigor."

"The 2010 Côtes du Rhône-Villages Rasteau l'Andéol has turned out better than i expected. Dense purple, with loads of white chocolate, creme de cassis and kirsch, a full-bodied, multi-layered texture and loves of tannin and glycerin, this wine is very masculine and massive."
