"Côtes du Rhône par Excellence". Fruity and fleshy with beautiful tannins, its a great everyday wine.

Presentation

Presentation
Classic Côtes du Rhône. Fruity and fleshy with beautiful tannins, it’s a great everyday wine made almost exclusively from our Grand Prébois vineyards (for the Grenache) and our Vinsobres vineyards (for the Syrah). A beautiful wine you should always have around!

The vintage
The 2018 vintage is characterised by exceptional weather conditions. Flowering took place in the best possible conditions, with a historically abundant grape output. A few rainy episodes at the end of the spring complicated things a little with an attack of mildew, but the good weather then settled down until harvest, which took place under idyllic conditions. The wines are beautiful.
Location
This wine is a blend of Grenache (mainly from our Prébois vineyard in Orange), Syrah from further north (from our vineyard in Vinsobres) and Mourvèdre.
Terroir
The vineyard of Prébois has clayey limestone soils covered with stones. In Vinsobres the terraces are rich in quartz and marl limestone.
Ageing
The harvest date is determined by checking the ripeness of the grapes with analysis and tasting the berries. As soon as they arrive at the winery, the grapes are sorted and destemmed. The fermentation takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks between 150hl and 190hl. The extraction is done by pumping over and the frequency is determined by tasting. After racking and malolactic fermentation, the wines are transferred partly to oak barrels and partly to stainless steel vats where they will be aged for a year.
Varietals
Grenache
Mourvèdre
Syrah

Reviews

88-90/100
"A blend of 60% Grenache and the rest Syrah and Mourvèdre, the 2018 Côtes Du Rhône Reserve reveals a vivid purple color as well as impressive notes of black and blue fruits, ground pepper, and wild herbs. It's round, supple, and polished on the palate, with beautiful fruit. It's an impressive Côtes du Rhône."

"The Perrins manage all of the vineyards used to source this wine, which include Vinsobres for Syrah (20%), Orange (Prébois) for Grenache (60%) and Saint-Maurice for Mourvèdre (20%). Cherries and raspberries ride on a medium to full-bodied palate, backed by a plump mouthfeel and silky tannins on the finish. The 2018 Côtes du Rhône Réserve will be ready to drink on release, but it should hold up for at least 3-4 years after that"
