Famille Perrin Châteauneuf du Pape - Les Sinards 2018

The other Châteauneuf of the family! For the most part Les Sinards is made from the young vines at Beaucastel and a neighboring vineyard we farm. Mostly Grenache, this is a classic Châteauneuf du Pape.

Story

The wine
Les Sinards is generally made from the young vines from Beaucastel as well as farmed vines located near Beaucastel.
The vintage
The 2018 vintage is characterised by exceptional weather conditions. Flowering took place in the best possible conditions, with a historically abundant grape output. A few rainy epi-sodes at the end of the spring complicated things a little with an attack of mildew, but the good weather then settled down until harvest, which took place under idyllic condi-tions.The wines are beautiful.
Location
Wine made from the young vines from Beaucastel and farmed vines.
Terroir
Molasse seabed of the Miocene period covered by diluvial alpine deposits (pebbles). A plot that lies on Urgonien limestone.
Ageing
As of August, we carry out maturity checks and berry tastings to determine the optimal date for harvest. Each grape variety is harvested separately. When they arrive at the winery, the grapes are sorted. Part of the Syrah is vinified in whole bunches, the other part as well as the Grenache are destemmed. The Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines are vinified using the same process as the wines of Château de Beaucastel. After vinification, the wines are tasted to define the blend. Finally, they are aged in oak foudres for 2 years.
Varietals
Grenache
Mourvèdre

Reviews

90-93/100
"The 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape les Sinards seems to have a bit of everything. Bright, fresh raspberries and orange zest? Check. Deep, ripe plum and chocolate? Check. It all comes together in a full-bodied, silky-textured wine that finishes long and vibrant, with subtle spice accents."

"Leading off the Châteauneuf Du Pape releases, the 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Les Sinards comes from the younger vines around the estate as well as a handful of other lieux-dits in the appellation. It should certainly be an outstanding wine and has the classic darker, almost blue fruit tones that are common in the vintage as well as complex violet and peppery notes. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and balanced, it’s a winner."
