Vorstellung
Er gilt als einer der besten Weißweine in Frankreich, nur 6000 Flaschen dieses Weines werden hergestellt. Hergestellt zu 100% von sehr alten Rebstöcken des Roussanne, geerntet leicht über dem Reifepunkt. Dieser außergewöhnliche Wein muss innerhalb 3 Jahren oder nach 15 Jahren getrunken werden. Genießen zu gastronomischer Küche.
Der Jahrgang
Der Jahrgang 2016 war im südlichen Rhônetal außergewöhnlich, sowohl was die Traubenqualität als auch die -menge anbelangte. Dies war den idyllischen Wetterbedingungen zu verdanken, die ohne Kapriolen das ganze Jahr lang in der Region herrschten.
Lage
Château de Beaucastel hat 7 Hektar in weißen Reben bepflanzt.
Terroir
Molasse Meeresböden des Miozän mit Alpinen Ablagerungen bedeckt
Reife
Die Trauben werden von Hand geerntet und in kleine Kisten sortiert, pneumatisch gepresst. Absetzen der Säfte und Reifung (30% in der Eiche, 70% Tanks). Abgefüllt nach 8 Monaten.

Verkostung
Dieser Roussanne Vieilles Vignes besticht durch seine mimosengelbe Farbe sowie seine intensiven Akazien- und Bienenwachs-Aromen. Am Gaumen zeigt sich dieser Wein mild, ganz rund, honigsüß und mit unendlicher Länge. Ein ganz großer Jahrgang.

"Le Vieilles Vignes continue de nous impressionner : il s’affine et gagne en profondeur avec le temps. Une des plus jolies définitions de Roussanne dans le Rhône méridional. Une belle maturité qui reflète le cépage sans accuser les notes trop mûres si souvent rencontrées dans le secteur de Châteauneuf. Nous sommes impressionnés par la maîtrise de la maturité que ce vin profond révèle. La bouche se montre de belle envergure, ample et racée, avec une belle allonge."
"Also bottled two weeks ago, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Roussanne Vieilles Vignes is utterly killer and is as good as it gets. Huge notes of orange blossom, peach, tangerine, honeysuckle, and caramelized citrus flow from this insanely good, unctuous, heavenly textured white that possesses full-bodied richness and power, yet stays light, graceful and perfectly balanced on the palate. Drink bottles anytime over the coming 4-6 years, or cellar for a decade or more. Robert Parker once famously called this the Montrachet of the Rhône, and I wholeheartedly agree with him. Don’t miss this wine!"
"At nine years of age, this is clearly entering the second phase of its evolution, with oxidative notes taking the form of wax, honey and hazelnuts. Still lovely and fresh on the palate, with characteristically mild acidity. The finish, which features a touch of brown butter, isn't as long as expected – this needs a little longer to comfortably step into its second phase. Will be good, but give it time, as it's in an awkward chapter at the time of tasting. From a single parcel of Roussanne, planted in 1919 and grown biodynamically."
"The 500-case production of this wine comes from a three-hectare parcel of Roussanne planted in 1909. The 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Roussanne Vieilles Vignes takes the quality of Beaucastel's traditional white and raises it another level. Caramelized pineapple sounds sweet and cloying, but it isn't when it's backed by amazing texture, citrus zest and a briny sensation on the never-ending finish. As this was the last wine of my visit to the estate, I found it especially hard to spit out."
