Vorstellung
Château de Beaucastel ist seit langem als einer der größten Weine in Frankreich berücksichtigt worden. Es ist bekannt für seine Eleganz, Ausgewogenheit und Alterungspotential. Beaucastel hat ein außergewöhnliches Terroir an der nördlichen Grenze der Appellation Châteauneuf du Pape, den Mistral winde ausgesetzt. Alle dreizehn Sorten der Appellation sind seit den sechziger Jahren organisch gewachsen.
Der Jahrgang
Der Jahrgang 2016 war im südlichen Rhônetal außergewöhnlich, sowohl was die Trau-benqualität als auch die -menge anbelangte. Dies war den idyllischen Wetterbedingun-gen zu verdanken, die ohne Kapriolen das ganze Jahr lang in der Region herrschten.
Lage
Châteauneuf du Pape, zwischen Orange und Avignon, Château de Beaucastel Rot ist ein 70-Hektar Weinberg.
Terroir
Château de Beaucastel ist 110 Hektar groß, in einem einzigen Grundstück im Norden der Appellation. Das Terroir ist archetypisch der besten Terroirs in Châteauneuf: Kieselsteine auf der Oberfläche, Sand, Lehm und Kalk tiefer im Boden. Die Reben sind alt und wurden organisch seit 50 Jahren angebaut, dies ermöglicht es den Wurzeln außergewöhnlich tief zu wachsen.

Reife
Jede Sorte wird einzeln und von Hand geerntet. Die Weinbereitung erfolgt in Eichenfässern für die reduktiven Sorten (Mourvèdre, Syrah) und in der traditionellen Betonbehälter für die oxydative Trauben (alle anderen). Sobald die Milchsäuregärung abgeschlossen ist, mischen die Familie Perrin die verschiedenen Sorten. Die Mischung reift dann in Eichenfässern für ein Jahr vor der Abfüllung.

Dieser 2016er Châteauneuf-du-Pape ist ein junger Wein von seltener Qualität! Er besticht durch seine intensive rubinrote Farbe und seine sehr frische Nase mit Schokoladennoten. Am Gaumen ist er rund und zeigt Aromen reifer Früchte, sanfte Tannine und eine gute Länge. Er besitzt eine großartige Säure und Ausgewogenheit.

"Youthfully reticent, but warm and polished in feel, with a large core of cassis, raspberry and cherry puree notes lying in wait for now. Threads of red licorice, warm stone and singed mesquite and cedar emerge steadily through the lengthy finish as the fruit unwinds slowly. Concentrated yet precise. Sock this away in the cellar. Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Counoise. "

It offers a ripe, sexy, rounded style that quickly shows more structure, minerality, and tannin with time in the glass. Blackberries, blueberries, smoked earth, violets, and garrigue all give way to a full-bodied, deep, structured Beaucastel that’s going to benefit from 5-7 years of bottle age and keep for two decades. It reminds me of the 2001."

It’s full-bodied but immediately lifted and fresh on the palate, with powerful fruit and a dense lattice of ripe tannins. It is beautifully textured, very straight in style, with great length and energy. It’s already very well integrated and balanced. Tight, refreshing, mineral and intense. A truly excellent Beaucastel."
"It is easy to get lost in the aromatic complexities here with all the pepper, leaf, wet earth, spice, old wood, dark cherry and plum notes. On the palate, the wine is polished, deep, fresh, concentrated and sweet, Here, there is a purity and symmetry to the wine, along with a clean palate of fruits this year, that makes this a treat to taste, even at this young stage. Marc Perrin thinks this is the best wine produced here since the back to back duo of 1989 and 1990. I am sure this is better than both those previous vintages. It is a stunning wine that deserves your attention to find a bottle and taste it. This should have the ability to age for decades."
