Vinsobres est certainement un des plus beaux Crus du Sud de la Vallée du Rhône.
Le millésime
Le millésime 2011 est un millésime de contraste. Printemps très chaud et sec, début juillet pluvieux puis été indien jusqu'à fin octobre. Un tri très important, notamment après égrappage a permis la réalisation d'un très beau millésime, notamment pour les cépages tardifs.
Situation
Le vignoble se situe à 40 kilomètres au Nord de Châteauneuf-du-Pape à une altitude d'environ 300 mètres bénéficiant d'un climat frais adapté à la Syrah. Les Hauts de Julien sont issus d'une très vieille parcelle de vignes (environ 90 ans) co-plantée de Syrahs et de Grenaches.

Alluvion quaternaires caillouteuses en terrasse.
Élevage
15% en barrique pendant un an. Pas de filtration avant mise en bouteille. A la cave Famille Perrin, de façon traditionnelle.

"Very dark blueish crimson. Meaty nose – almost roast beef. Polished tannins. Seems much more forward than the Coudoulet. Almost satin texture. Though some tartness on the finish."
"Even more impressive is the 2011 Vinsobres Vieilles Vignes Les Hauts Julien. Made from the same blend of 50/50 Grenache and Syrah, this wine displays more density, slightly lower acidity and hints of black truffle and graphite. It is a big wine, and based on older vintages that they have made, takes a long time to reach full maturity. (I haven't found a fully mature one yet.) Nevertheless, this is a noteworthy purchase for serious wine connoisseurs."

A blend of Grenache and Syrah that’s from 90-year-old vines and the northern part of the Southern Rhone, it gives up mostly Syrah characteristics with dark berry fruit, licorice, smoke, spice and background meatiness. Medium to full-bodied and impressively concentrated and rich, it’s an outstanding wine and will drink nicely through 2021."
