Vinsobres est certainement un des plus beaux Crus du Sud de la Vallée du Rhône.
Le millésime
2012 est un millésime contrasté entre un début d’année doux et qui est devenu glacial au cours du mois de février. Un printemps frais et humide, suivi d'un mois de juillet sec et venteux, puis d'un mois d'août très chaud. Pour finir sur des conditions de vendange idéales. Autant de conditions qui en font un très beau millésime.
Situation
Le vignoble se situe à 40 kilomètres au Nord de Châteauneuf-du-Pape à une altitude d'environ 300 mètres bénéficiant d'un climat frais adapté à la Syrah. Les Hauts de Julien sont issus d'une très vieille parcelle de vignes (environ 90 ans) co-plantée de Syrahs et de Grenaches.

Élevage
15% en barrique pendant un an. Pas de filtration avant mise en bouteille. A la cave Famille Perrin, de façon traditionnelle.

"Barrel sample. Bright crimson. Very correct and savoury, almost salty. With meat and tannins and some strong polished tannins underneath. A bit like licking rocks. Wait!"
"Showing much more open and expressive than when I tasted it last year (or said another way, I under-rated it), the 2012 Côtes du Rhône Villages Vinsobres les Hauts de Julien comes from close to 100-year-old vines located in the northern part of the Southern Rhône. A blend of Syrah and Grenache that’s still in barrel, it offers thrilling notes of smoked dark fruits, pepper meats, graphite and big minerality to go with a full-bodied, focused, concentrated and serious feel on the palate. This is impressive across the board, and might be the greatest Vinsobres I’ve ever tasted. Short-term cellaring is advised, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see this still drinking brilliantly at age 20."
