Location
The vineyard is located 40 km north of Châteauneuf-du-Pape at an altitude of 300m benefiting from a cool climate, perfect for Syrah. Les Hauts de Julien is made with grapes from an old plot of vines (around 90 years old) co-planted in Syrah and Grenache.
Terroir
Quaternary alluvial stones on terraces.
Ageing
Vinified traditionally at the Perrin & Fils cellar. Aged 15% in oak barrels for one year. No filtration before bottling.

"Smoky up front, but with a pure beam of fig and raspberry ganache that drives the tar and melted licorice finish. Shows violet and graphite notes as well, with a hint of lavender. There's some grip still to shed. Best from 2010 through 2012. "
