Die 30 Hektar von Coudoulet liegen östlich des Weinbergs von Beaucastel auf der anderen Seite der Autobahn A7. Aus Gründen, die inzwischen offensichtlich sind, wird er oft als das Beaucastel Baby betrachtet. Die Coudoulet Böden haben viel Ähnlichkeit mit denen von Beaucastel. Er ist aus Molasse, Meeresboden, bedeckt durch alpine Ablagerungen . Diese Steine auch Galets Roulés genannt, spielen eine große Rolle: Sie nehmen die Hitze während des Tages auf und geben Sie Nachts nach und nach wieder ab, dies gibt dem Wein einen perfekten Start im Frühling.
Der Jahrgang
2017 ist das Jahr aller Rekorde: das trockenste Jahr seit 30 Jahren, kaum Eingriffe bei den Weinbauarbeiten, optimale Lesebedingungen, sehr geringe Erntemenge aufgrund klimatischer Veränderungen und Weine mit sehr großem Potenzial.

Terroir
Molasse Meeresböden des Miozän, bedeckt mit alpinen Ablagerungen. (Kiesel) Identisch mit dem Weinberg Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Reife
Jede Sorte wird einzeln von Hand geerntet, dann in der Kellerei sortiert. Die Ernte wird bis zu 80 ° C erhitzt und dann auf 20 ° C abgekühlt. Klassische Maischegärung von 12 Tagen in Zementwannen. Pressen in pneumatischen Pressen. Verschnitt der verschiedenen Sorten nach biologischen Säureabbau. Reifung über 6 Monaten in Stückfässern.

Verkostung
Schöne, tief-dunkle Farbe. In der Nase entfalten sich köstliche Noten von roten Beeren, Himbeeren, Walderdbeeren und den würzigen Noten der Garrigue. Am Gaumen kraftvoll, vollmundig und von großer Finesse. Die Tannine samtweich und eine schöne Länge im Abgang.

"The 2017 Côtes Du Rhône Coudoulet De Beaucastel is a textbook example of this cuvée, and while it tends to be a relatively expensive Côtes Du Rhône, it merits the price. Complex garrigue, ground pepper, and earthy dark fruits all flow to a medium to full-bodied wine that has a polished, elegant texture as well as the sunny, Provençal style of the vintage. It’s capable of lasting for 15 years or more."
